At PepsiCo Australia & New Zealand, we are committed to playing a responsible and supportive role in the health and wellness of Australians & New Zealanders. We recognise our responsibility and will continue to do our part to make a meaningful and lasting difference.
Australians and New Zealanders are more concerned than ever about their health and wellness and are looking to achieve a balanced diet through healthy lifestyle choices. Our goal is to provide a range of high quality food and beverage products, from simple treats to healthier offerings. We continue to make tremendous strides in transforming our portfolio to create products that fit into healthy, active lifestyles. We have reformulated many of our existing products to reduce saturated fat, sodium and added sugars. In other cases we have increased the whole grain, fibre and micronutrient content of our products.
We strive to make food and beverage choices easier for consumers by providing easy-to-understand front of pack % Daily Intake Guide labelling on our products. We also believe that it is our responsibility to address health and nutrition concerns, including obesity, both globally and here in Australia & New Zealand. While there’s a lot of debate about how to solve the obesity issue, at PepsiCo we believe that the solution to maintaining a healthy weight is achieving energy balance – the balance between calories consumed and calories burned through physical activity.
PepsiCo Australia & New Zealand adheres to voluntary industry wide marketing practices which include specific guidelines for advertising to children which are consistent with our overall global strategy. We sell a range of products that meet the nutrition criteria of the various State Government school canteen strategies. We do not place vending machines in primary schools and provide a ‘Smart Options’ range of snacks for vending machines in high schools and health facilities.
PepsiCo ANZ is proud to be a member of the Healthier Australia Commitment, an initiative being led by the food and grocery industry to help Australians live healthier, active lives. Healthier Australia Commitment members work collectively to create a healthier nation in the Australian marketplace, the workplace and in the community. A key focus of the Healthier Australia Commitment is promoting the concept of energy balance - i.e. balancing the amount and quality of food and beverages consumed with physical activity.
